　　Abstract：
　　American higher education is a decentralized system of over 4,200 colleges and universities, public and private, ranging from major research institutions to specialized career training programs. Vice Chancellor Roger's talk will present the broad outlines and key features of American higher education. He will discuss the mechanisms and forces that tend to assure the resulting quality of education.  He will also introduce Purdue University system, Purdue University Calumet, and the ETIE program.
　　Short Bio：
　　Dr. Rogers received his Ph.D. in Systems Engineering, University of Virginia in 1987, Master of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Ohio University in 1983, and Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Ohio University in 1971.  He has many years of higher education experience in carious universities such as East Carolina University, OLD DOMINION UNIVERSITY, Central UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL FLORIDA, and Ohio University.
